Issue Spotlight

Tomb of the Gods

Dark Horse Comics' last Indiana Jones series appeared back in 1996, but the globe-trotting professor tackled a life-changing challenge in this summer’s four-issue Indiana Jones and the Tomb of the Gods adventure. In this issue, we celebrate Indy’s comic book return with Tomb of the Gods writer Rob Williams.

Features

Frank Marshall & Ben Burtt

We catch up with Frank Marshall, one of Hollywood’s most successful and prolific producers, ahead of the DVD release of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. He shares his thoughts on the movie and reflects on its success, and makes a hint or two about what the future might hold for the Indy franchise. Plus, sound designer extraordinaire Ben Burtt tells all about his award-winning work in the Indiana Jones movies – from the first crack of Indy’s whip in Raiders to the amazing aural whirlwind as the Crystal Skull creatures return to the fourth dimension.

The making of Raiders

Raiders of the Lost Ark producer Robert Watts reveals the story behind the making of a movie classic. Having previously made two James Bond movies, Watts was no stranger to action and adventure, and Raiders marked the start of a three-film association with the “man in the hat.” On the script’s appeal, Watts says: “It’s a film that is filled with energy, from the opening shot when we establish the dissolve from the Paramount mountain to the end. I had a good feeling about it. I knew Spielberg was brilliant with this kind of stuff.”

Electronic Artifacts

Mysterious jungles, angry natives, treacherous temples, and ancient traps. In the hope of uncovering mysterious artifacts, one man dares face them all, armed only with a whip, a hat, and his courage. He is…you!
In the latest issue of Indiana Jones: The Official Magazine, we bring you the complete history of Indy video games. It all begins with the simple, blocky graphics of the Atari 2600 game console, way back in 1982…
